SCOUT: Hipster Overclock & Pheromone Cannister | Solo Haz 5

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

This is a demonstration of the Scout's HIPSTER Overclock for the M1000 Rifle paired with the PHEROMONE CANNISTER grenade. It's not intended to say this is good or bad combo to equip, just an example of both. This is also a classic example of a Point Extraction gone wrong. Too much time, sloppy play and as players with some time in the game usually find out the hard way, taking too long in a Point Extraction is a huge mistake because after about 15-20 minutes the swarms don't stop and that's magnified on Hazard 5 missions.

As far the Hipster OC - It gives you a much faster spread recovery and a lot more ammo at the expense of huge damage reduction. What this means is you can fire off shots almost as fast as you can pull the trigger with a lot more accuracy. So if your a hip fire player in FPS games, this may be worth taking a look at when you get this OC on a drop. Even though I warmed up to the OC after while, I really miss the high damage of the focus shots, which now just simply don't have the power they do normally. So much so that it's almost worth not taking. In the end, rather than facing something like a Menace in this mission, I chose the unwise route most of the time of just avoidance. Ultimately, it just didn't feel like I was really quite effective at getting kills fast enough with it. From further trials with it after this video I feel this is something that actually ends up pairing better with cryo grenades or supporting a cryo driller because you can fire off shots so quick you can dispatch a lot of frozen bugs with it.

And with the Pheromones, these grenades frenzy the enemies and make them attack each other. They are widely considered one of the weakest grenades in the game and they are pretty "meh" as far as that goes. They are quite effective in certain situations, but considering you only get four and it's really easy to waste them the jury is still out for me on whether I would consider taking them over cryo or the IFG grenades, both which are almost objectively better. There's no specific weapon or build out that just cries out for this grenade, but it does the job it's advertised to do. I would liken it's effectiveness to the Engineer's lure grenade, at least in the sense that it can peel of chunks of a sizeable swarm and get them off you, but ultimately the effect doesn't last long and it's really hard to tell how much damage the bugs are really doing to each other.
