[Time Codes in Description] This run is a demonstration of the SNOWBALL Overclock for the Cryo Cannon paired with NEUROTOXIN GRENADES. Not necessarily something you would consider a "meta" build, but effective nonetheless. SNOWBALL is an unstable overclock that allows you shoot ranged AoE Projectiles (snowballs) that flash freeze enemies around the impact zone at the expense of less ammo and longer delay in the weapon repressurizing to be able to use it again. You enable the Snowball by pressing reload on the cryo cannon at which time there is a short spin up delay and it fires costing you 35 ammo. It flash freezes most everything, but NOT everything. But smaller to medium enemies along with standard praetorians it does it's job quite well. It's nothing particularly special and this mission is a good demonstration of both the strengths and weakness of the OC.
Ultimately all you're really gaining is some precious time in certain circumstances. Note that the cost of 35 ammo for a snowball will flash freeze a praetorian, but that's still considerably MORE ammo than just standard freezing of one, so it's a trade off for time vs ammo. You wouldn't rely on SNOWBALL heavily in missions, but use it in a pinch to stop groups, larger enemies and flash freeze mactera swarms, which is harder than it sounds because the Mactera are constantly zigzagging and you need to take the projectile fire delay into account. All that and add on that the snowball is not an instant hit, but an arcing projectile.
NEUROTOXING GRENADES are hated by many, but if you have the time and discipline to learn how and when to use them, they are devastating swarm killers and this mission is a text book example of why. Too many players try to toss neurotoxin into swarms, but as you can see here, if you're fleeing a swarm then throwing them in front of you (away from the swarm chasing you) at your own feet will lead the group in. And once the swarm is inside the toxin gas, they slow down and begin to die. Note that clouds effect everything, including low flying mactera. And if you have enough distance once they become infected, you can just stay away and let them die, picking off the ones that come near. I love the toxin grenades and they are always a great pair with Cryo because fire sets them off, so while effective with flamethrower, they are tricker to use. And, in teamplay you have to be careful to try not to blind your team with them. Not to mention ANY fire mod on any weapon from a member of your team could ignite the cloud. Though that's not always a bad thing. NEUROTOXIN grenades deal NO FRIENDLY OR SELF DAMAGE AT ALL, even when the cloud ignites so you're free to run into your own gas clouds and lure the enemies in.
